Welcome to South Mountain Ranch
Our focus is on raising bulls that work for commercial cattlemen. We are constantly striving to breed cattle that are well balanced, with an emphasis on calving ease, growth, carcass, maternal, and disposition. We use intense AI breeding to proven breed leading sires with balanced EPD's.
We winter our cows along the Snake River in Melba Idaho. During the summer the cattle are pastured in Cascade and Donnelly Idaho. Our bulls are developed on a high roughage ration, with special care given to make sure the bulls do not get too fat.
We feel that our cow herd represents the quality of cattle that can compete with any purebred herd, but we don't yet have the brand name notoriety of some of our peers in the pure bred business. Many of our customers feel that we are one of the "best kept secrets" in the industry. Our bulls represent an outstanding value proposition when you consider the quality of the genetics that we have to offer.
